This pen keeps jumping out at me when I flip through the Fahrney’s catalog. Adding it to the wishlist category here even though it’s out of my price range and not a priority (the first pen I buy over $75 is likely to be a brand I already know and trust I will love — not a lot of those yet at this point in my FP life).

PRICE:

  • $256 @ Fahrney’s
  • $255.95 @ Goldspot
  • not listed at Atlas Stationers, ColoradoPen.com, Goulet Pens, JetPens, or Pen Boutique

WHY DESIRED:

  • The cloudy pearlescent dreamy magic of it. How it looks solid and substantial, but still light, cloudy and floating, imagines translucence
  • I don’t have
    • an all white and silver pen
    • a Laban pen
  • fits in with capsule wardrobe grey as neutral
  • fits in with pearlescent white shimmer highlights personal style guide
  • fits in with my age / feels suitably elegant and mature
  • feminine magic without feeling overtly gendered
  • styling: traditional in a simple, clean, modern way. Beautiful without being ostentatious

ATTRIBUTES:

  • made of iridescent natural shell
  • faceted barrel & cap
  • polished & covered in layers of clear lacquer
  • spring-loaded clip & trim
  • rhodium-finish stainless steel nib
  • source of descriptions: fahrney’s catalog

NIB IDEAS:

Broad (or medium, at least)

INK IDEAS:

As nervous as shimmer inks make me … yeah. Silver. Light grey. Silvery-bright YELLOW.

  • Would Howl at the Moon do? I doubt I’d enjoy it since she says it has a dry flow and is too pale, but the IDEA of it is nice, and her samples look kind of perfect.
  • I like this grey-dominant yellow: Taccia Sharaku-natane
  • Pretty much every silvery-yellow reviewed on Mountain of Ink that appeals to me is just too light, like this Amber Yellow: Silver.
  • Maybe Diamine Golden Sands?

Maybe aqua, silvery-purple/lavender, pink.

But you know black (with lots of shimmer?) would do just fine too.

I appear to be wasting time imagining the perfect ink to go with a pen I do not even own. On the other hand … it gives me pleasure to daydream and look at colors. And I do want to have a practical and pleasurable yellow ink to use in *a* pen someday, even if it’s not this one.
